For Christmas we got each of the boys a special outing. Lukas received Brad Paisley tickets with Mama and Alex is going to see the Avalanche play with Daddy. Since Brad was closing the National Western Stockshow Lukas and I stopped by to check it out before heading down to the Pepsi Center.
I truly think Lukas is a country boy trapped in a city boy's body. He loves animals, nature and country music. Don't get me wrong, he loves the city because everything is close; we get to go to special things like concerts or sports games but someday when he has a choice, I bet he will end up a little farther away from it all.
Lukas knows that the stock show is right after Christmas and the day after he starts asking when we are going. It has been like that since he was 3! First stop, John Deere tractors.
Next, the CSU 3rd floor with animals and Cam in a grad outfit! This section is so cool for older kids. They have a scavenger hunt and tons of things for them to touch and play with. Lukas played a game and was able to guess that his favorite fruit, the blueberry, has 85% water. He won a little compass which was a big thrill, he says he is going to take it camping!
We went to visit the animals next; Pigs, Chickens and the Clydesdale horses in the stables. I did not take any pictures because I was afraid I would hurt their eyes. Lukas was so cute showing the cowboys that he knew how to pet each one on the nose, very gently with a flat hand just like Auntie Cathryn taught him. He was overjoyed with the cowboys said of course he could pet their horses since he was so nice and he knew how to do it the right way!

And now for the main event! I have no idea how but I got crazy good seats for this concert. 8th row on the floor on the aisle so Lukas could see them perfect everytime they came to the side or the catwalk which was a lot! 
Scotty McCreery opened and he was really good! Lukas is not by any stretch a night owl so by the time The Band Perry came on he slept through the entire set! He just said, "Wake me up when BP comes on."
Brad Paisley is Lukas' favorite and he did not disappoint! He was amazing and I would jump at the chance to see him again! He opened with "Camoflauge" with really cool digital laser designs. Since Lukas' favorite BP song is "Penguin, James Penguin" from the Christmas album, he said the Camo song was a good 2nd choice.
"Welcome to the Future" was the 2nd song with the most amazing 3D laser globe up in the sky that Lukas loved!

Lukas Wayne, made me so proud in this moment. He was just smiling and nodding his head with conviction when the screens were the giant American flags. He told me later that he loves how country music loves America. 
What could be better than this day? Brad was just finishing the song "I'm Still a Guy" when he asked if there were any real men anymore. He asked a couple of times, making a point to stress the word "real". Then his band started "Tebowing" and out comes Tim Tebow to sing a line with Brad. I thought Lukas was going to explode! Two of his role models, his favorites standing next to each other just feet away! Since Lukas was so tired at this point he could barely stand up we left the concert on the high note that was the end to the perfect Lukas Wayne day!
